104 West Partners and RMVCA Host Ongoing Luncheon

DEMO’s Chris Shipley to Discuss “The New Anatomy of a Launch”

DENVER, Dec. 3, 2008 – 104 West Partners, a strategic communications firm specializing in innovative technology companies, today announced another luncheon in its continued partnership with Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association to sponsor an ongoing event series designed to offer insight for high-growth technology companies.

This month’s luncheon, called “The New Anatomy of a Launch – A Conversation with DEMO’s Chris Shipley” will feature Chris Shipley, the executive producer of the legendary DEMO conferences. Shipley will explore the impact of shifting technology markets and the general economic climate on how companies launch themselves, their products and services.

The luncheon is scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2008 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at McCormick’s Fish House and Bar, located in downtown Denver. Seating is limited, so attendance is restricted to members of the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association, their guests and guests of 104 West Partners. Those wishing to attend should RSVP to Nanette Schunk at nanette@rockymountainvca.com by December 8, 2008.

“The Rocky Mountain region is a hotbed for technology startups and venture activity,” said Patrick Ward, partner and chief strategic officer at 104 West Partners. “In today’s economic climate, entrepreneurs and management teams at early stage companies need to understand the most effective means of launching their products and services. This luncheon offers a unique opportunity to tap into the knowledge of Chris Shipley, as well as 104 West Partners and the Rocky Mountain Venture Capital Association, all of whom have extensive experience in launching high-growth companies.”

December’s keynote speaker, Chris Shipley, has helped technology companies bring over 1,000 new products to market since 1996. As a founding partner and Global Research Director of Guidewire Group, Shipley analyzes emerging technology companies around the world to identify market opportunities and accelerate products to market. Fortune Small Business Magazine placed Shipley on its “Top 10 Minds in Small Business,” and the San Jose Business Journal named her a “Woman of Distinction.” Shipley has covered personal technology since 1984 and is currently working on a book on the social impact of technology-driven change.

The luncheon series, started in September with the “Wall Street in the Rockies” presentation by Merrill Lynch’s Kevin Tice and Ed Maguire, is intended to aid technology growth companies and to continue to position the Rocky Mountain region in the venture capital spotlight.
